Normal Village

Pile On

Normal Village are one of those bands shaped first and foremost by the community around them. They’ve spent the last few years bouncing between Leeds’ DIY stages, tightening their songs in real time and figuring out their sound by simply playing it a lot. That approach sits at the heart of their debut EP Pile On, a record built from tangled ideas, shared graft, and the people who’ve supported them along the way. - Words by Eliot Odgers for Still Listening Magazine

Music by Fakie, Lucy, Paddy, Spike

Recorded at Eiger Studios by Evan J. Martin

Rhiannon Hope

All Things, Rising and Returning

The EP is a truly stunning collection of tracks that invites listeners into a landscape that feels both otherworldly and grounded in a sense of raw emotion. With the titular track, Hope’s voice becomes a kaleidoscope of sound, swirling across her accordion, which remains rather stoic and poised in comparison.

All Things, Rising and Returning is a timeless record, its year of origin obscured by influences dating back to the days of traditional folk – you might’ve stumbled across an 18th-century villager singing one of these tracks in a field – to more modern folk artists like Jessica Pratt, the kind of artist you can imagine Hope one day opening for.

Words by Aimee Ferrier for Far Out Magazine

Available on 12" Vinyl with special bonus track "Toothpaste" live from The Hangover Sessions.

Bathing Suits

I Can Be A Freak

It can be said with no hesitation that Bathing Suits are (IMO) the most exciting band in Leeds. In a local scene saturated with post-punk and a thriving local electronic community, Bathing Suits have taken ingredients of each and made their own sonic dish – and it’s best served hot.

‘I Can Be A Freak’ follows the release of ‘Lousy Havoc/Relay’ released in January. Recorded with resident Leeds/Berlin DJ and producer Benny Howell, AKA DJ Subaru, ‘I Can Be A Freak’ embodies Bathing Suits ethos – “Always dancey. Always loud. Always sexy.”

Desenzano

YEAH... WHATEVER!!!

Mysterious Italian Leeds Vapourwave artist Desenzano release their 3rd track of hypnotic sounds. We're still awaiting the first performance from this individual. Desenzano puts a new spin on vapourwave however, as even though the influnces are clear, there is no sampling involved. All of these souds, including drums, come from a vast collection of Portasound, Casiotone, and similar 80s keyboards.

Substandards

Starting To Feel

Oasis summer came and went… and then it came again with this Madchester banger that would make Ian Brown reunite the roses and Shaun Ryder cry with happiness.

You’ve got a one way ticket to Knebworth baby, and there’s no going back.

Fresh off of their summer festival run (1), the Substandards boys cooked up this sunshine in a bottle groove, and now nothing can stop you from moving your feet.
